Maya and Luz (Ma-uz) met in 2008 while collecting donations for a fundraiser, and that has led to a special collaborative and creative friendship.

The idea for Mauz began serendipitously in the summer of 2022. While traveling, Maya dreamed of creating a collection of statement earrings, inspired in part by her mother’s jewelry and the unique pieces she discovered along the way. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Luz was signing up for an accessory-making class.

It was only a few days later that they decided to collaborate on one more creative endeavor, putting their passions and business brains together to start Mauz!
